Their influence and legacy are undeniable but Ulcerate simply has more albums while being just as good, so music wise at least, I prefer Ulcerate

i’d prolly agree it’s close if i liked vermis/shrines/ofaf more but guts’ worst album (considered dead) tops those records. just a more consistent discog imo and i prefer fwth and cs over my fav ulcerate (stare). can’t lie tho this is quickly rivaling stare. i gotta let it sink in more but this direction is exactly where i wanted them to go after shrines and it hitsssss

I totally acknowledge and appreciate that a lot of bands including Ulcerate would not exist without Gorguts.
That being said that fact doesn't have an impact on my enjoyment of Ulcerate and I prefer every record since Everything as Fire over my favorite Gorguts record which is Colored Sands. Mind you I said favorite instead of best coz I neither want nor can open this discussion. I personally don't really care about anything by Gorguts before Obscura.

DsO are disso black so I left them out of the disso death contest. If I had to choose I'd still take Fas, Paracletus and Kenose over any 'guts. After that it could be a contest but those three album are so insanely good and out of this world...
