Agreed, went back and gave Nonstop Feeling a listen just now to get my fix of some heavy riffs

Jammed about 3/4ths of the new one and I am really digging it. Seems like a pretty natural progression from here although I didn't jam this a ton since it dropped. Will have to compare while working later

I prefer Step 2 Rhythm personally but I can see why others like the newer stuff more

Sunshine is a prime example of why I won’t love this album. First minute and a half i’m like yeah, this is really good, and then suddenly I’m listening to a damn flute in a 2 minute ambient part that does absolutely nothing. It’s just nonsensical.

Yeah wayyyy too many outros. It's one thing to skip a track or two on an album, but I'm not going to engage much with a song if I have to skip half of it everytime it comes up

Yeah after giving it a day, Glow On and Time & Space are farrrrrr superior imo
I like the dreampop touches here and even the full dream pop songs, but to have almost no hardcore just takes away all their uniqueness/fun
It's like when Opeth went full prog rock and threw out every other genre they used to blend straight out the fuckin window

that was a brave and excellent decision, and left behind the most annoying side of their fanbase; the new Turnstile just sounds like treading water on the commercialist tendencies this one did its utmost to bite into

fwiw I dig Look Out For Me more than anything on here, but yep this felt very willingly boilerplate to begin with and a turgid redux of it is not the one
would not be at all against this band ditching the frat punk and going way off into long dubby jams tbh maybe there is hope

i don't mind them really embracing the dream pop side of their sound / abandoning the hardcore stylings they're known for on the majority of the songs. i don't even really mind the ambient outros ("look out for me" is a big highlight).
the songwriting just feels multiple steps down. so much of it is either outright aping glow on tracks (t/t, "birds" which is admittedly a banger) or just straight stinking it up ("dreaming", "dull"). i'm sure a lot of this will come off a bit better live but i'm kinda shocked at how little i'm fucking with it

I'm not surprised a lot of people don't like it but I'm enjoying the record a lot. DREAMING and DULL are great to me. I don't think it's as good as GLOW ON but I think the band gave a pretty good idea of what the record would sound like based on the singles so maybe I went into it with different expectations.

besides the t/t, which has admittedly grown on me, i liked and still like all the singles a lot.
with the exception of sunshower i'm not really sure i like any of the non-singles

It’s really crazy how similar all the songs are structurally and riff wise to all the songs on this. Vocal melodies, everything. I’ve never heard a band rip themselves off quite this hard haha

Similar but a lot worse. It just feels passionless a lot of the time. Like they’re REALLY going through the motions on the new one

I like it but it definitely feels phoned in as fuck

I haven’t really listened to much these guys have done since signing to Roadrunner. I should probably catch up since their new stuff seems to rate higher on here
