Tool is the only band I know of which succeeds in being repetitively repetitive, even Justin Bieber has more variation for God's sake. Take the song Lateralus for example, such a horrendous intro that after 20 seconds almost begs you to skip the song, well it lasts for more than a minute. Every section of the song is simple beyond words, this isn't Meshuggah or Symphony X mind you, but is also so amazingly boring. You hear a minute of a simple melody and slowly hear a different melody approaching, yet it is so slowly you almost start begging the melody to speed it up, repetitive, boring, repetitive, boring. This is no doom metal, it lacks any emotion whatsoever. This is no avant garde or progressive metal, lacks any technicality whatsoever. Hell, this isn't any metal at all, sounds more like an autistic child of 5 day dreaming BORING! I guess people always loved to find hidden meaning where there is none, Tool is just the peak of such stupidity.
