I didn't know Hum until last year and fell in love with this album. I'm sad to report I can't get into their other 2 LP. So to me, I definitely like this more too.
I have to admit being surprised since I'm usually so keen on the 90s alt-rock sound, not to mention younger bands tend to be more inspired etc.
Failure are similar to me although with them it's more a case of having been great in the 90s and great(er?) still after reuniting.

hum’s never rly been shoegaze to me even tho they are often called that (i have no issue with that) but Folding is def the closest they’ve ever come imo. and if that song is shoegaze, it’s certainly in the top 5 to come out this like, whole decade
that outro is so good though masters of tha delay feedback loop
