If RTJ2 is on par / better than this, I may cum my pants at work.

All four albums are pretty much on par with each other.

dont see why this album is being regarded as their best, considering all 4 have pretty much sounded the same. i can only really chalk it down to great timing.

otherwise i dont think this is a jump in quality at all, for me its been a case of diminishing returns since RTJ2.

I'm so confused.

Why does anybody compare this album to 2?

I'm hard-pressed to find any similarities other than it's the same group.

Is it because there's a siren in track 2? lol

something about el-p’s production style has never appealed to me. it’s hard to pinpoint but I think it has to do with all the cold steely timbres he uses, the sort of “digital” vibe

I don't know what to do. I didn't vibe with RTJ 2 much, while RTJ 4 really works for me.

I think it may be because the instrumentals are more interesting to me here. Some songs even have a prog vibe, adding layers and modulating itself through the course of a song.

Walking in the snow is probably a good example of that. There's something about a beat that evolves like it does here that really grabs my attention.

Some tracks on RTJ2 were just low bass on repeat throughout the whole track. Bores me to death.

I want to love this group as much as everyone here, but they do nothing for me. :/
Not even sure why I have their second album 4'd

just realized the el-p line isnt "gut punch for your atlas shrug" but "vonnegut" and wow.

I dont dig a lot of rap but this record slaps front to back, might be my favorite album of the year so far
