Everything about this is beautiful and crushing, but I can't get into Lay Your Head to Rest yet. It's sitting at a 4.5 for now.

The opening track’s main riff has that mechanised, propulsive sound of Vertikal. A really strong start to the album.

If I had 1 CoL to 5...what would it be?...I checked them 2 years ago, but now I'm living them hard...and this album seems a culmination of it all, even if sometimes a bit simpler, which helps to memorability.

been listening to them all week and this is still my favourite, maybe followed by SATH

I do like the raw nature of the first two albums though - very different to the later ones. In some ways I prefer the early vocal assault

Beyond is amazingly connected. Salvation is one dynamic tender beast...and SATH another 5 contender...this is my damn fave...

Respectable opinion Doof. Salvation is my fave but SATH is close behind it. Love The Beyond as well, so crushing.

Salvation had a lot of Mogwai-ish bits yes, some more experimental passages...it's third although I'm listening to Mariner again right now as I haven't returned to that yet this week and I remember liking it

Before this new one came out it was the only one I'd tried a few times
