High Violet > Boxer > TWFM > Alligator >> SSDL > IAETF >> SWB > ST
TWFM has a couple generic Natty joints but the highs are excellent

Am I the only one who finds the production on TWFM off in some places? Like Graceless, I Should Live in Salt and others lack some depth, some kind of low-end that's there in tracks like Demons, Sea of Love, and Dont Swallow the Cap?

Please don't tell me I'm the only one

Alligator, Boxer, and HV are all hard 5s. Can't rank them. I've been trying for 9 years and its pointless.

TWFM does have flaws, some plodding/generic moments and the production does wear on me when I listen to most or the whole album at once. But on the other hand it has like 5+ of their best songs and there's nothing bad, so I also understand people who consider TWFM their best. For me the previous three and SWB eclipse it though. This is their worst since the debut imo

The production kills so many songs on that album for me. Pink Rabbits as well.

I’d still take songs over production
Not that the production on TWFM has even bothered me :/

Boxer is obviously the GOAT natty album with the GOAT natty production, especially the fuckin CRISPY drums
that intro on brainy gets me rock hard

HV has overall worse production than TWFM for my money
super fuzzy in parts and it degrades into an indistinguishable mess in certain 'climax' moments e.g. end of terrible love
everything about lemonworld is perfect though :D

HV’s first half is too murky even for The National

Also: the most ‘alt bumped’ score of 2019?
Lot of shaky looking accounts 5’ing this

I love the fuzz in HV's case and the murkiness works so well for TWFM. Alligator has the weakest production for me. Real thin and ill-defined.

Correct on Alligator, the album lacks punch - does sound a teeny bit amateur in places
Always said: transitional
Especially in terms of production, Boxer sounds a million dollars and Alli...just doesn’t

Yeah, but my thing is, it seems to me like the production varies from track to track on TWFM from deep and murky to thin and fragile. Or am I just crazy?

Well the songs themselves vary from thin and fragile to murky in style...so...eh?

Yea, but the sound of Graceless and Pink Rabbits and others just seem so weak. Where's the low end, where's the depth?

I mean Need My Girl and Fireproof are going to be far more airy than your Last Times and Demons.
I can’t really fault that album so you might be right but either I don’t get it or I don’t hear it as a problem issue

I’ll check the end of Pink Rabbits

They could be so good if given a bit more punch and depth like Dont Swallow or Demons

Yeah, it is a real possibility that I'm just crazy
