I like his voice and I actually really like most of the lyrics but aside from that there isn't much here. His vocal delivery is exactly the same in every single track and musically it just sounds like he's re-writting the same song over and over and over again.

Kinda surprised this didn't place on the staff list. Maybe surprised is the wrong word because I knew it wasn't received half as well as Honey Bear, but this deserves more recognition (around here) than it gets. Lyrics are top notch and the melodies grow.

regardless of quality this album had barely any relevance this year. for such a political work it's pretty damning that it was quickly dropped from conversation (compare to anohni's record which sustained heated debate throughout 2016).
