waiting is often worth it when you've bought a physical copy of an album. tying your first experience of a piece of music to a physical object has a really nice effect; i have vivid memories of all the times where i opened up the mailing box, pulled the album out and put it on after weeks or months of avoiding pre-release singles, streams, leaks and downloads, and how rewarding it felt to hear the album for the first time--completely fresh--as a result. highly recommend trying this from time to time.

Now that I have a nice paying job I'm gonna do that more, I always pre-order any leak I listen to but can only listen digitally, gonna buy myself a decent vinyl player

I mean I was just teasing with my leak comment, but I do agree with dimsim that it's often more rewarding hearing an album for the first time in the desired format

I think that's what I'm gonna do with the new National, despite already having heard the first single.

I think waiting to hear the entirety of a record is valuable, but if the whole thing leaks I’m not gonna sit around twiddling thumbs.

Songs are more long term companions for me, so I don’t hype up the initial exposure as much as like a movie or novel. I never usually start deriving pleasure until I’ve familiarized myself with an album anyway.

And lol at being able to afford records

I'm forcing myself to wait till Friday. Partially because it's cold right now and Friday will nearly hit 60, and PUP is the kind of band I enjoy more in warm weather lol.
