This might be my most listened to in flames album in the last 10 years because I was obsessed with trying to like it when it came out but havent really touched it much since that time. So now coming back to it feels both fresh and like an old friend I used to kinda dislike but now I can appreciate almost everything about them. good stuff!

I'd argue Battles is worse tbh. I've seen some defenders for this, meanwhile I've seen even newer In Flames fans struggle to give Battles high ratings.

I remember Anders putting out a playlist of what he was listening to when this album was being made. Quite a few Katatonia songs on there, which explains the Leaders-esque verses in In Plain View and the Forsaker-style riff in WTWE.



I think with this album they were trying to push into that kind of alt/proggy direction, which wasn't a bad idea at all. Which is why I'm still miffed that they just said fuck it and went full SiriusXM Octane with the next one.
