Yeah, I'd say those two are the best of the RR years too, but they're nothing compared to the first half of DT's career

I actually think DT are at the end of their life though. Probably one or two other shitty albums and they'll stop. But maybe not, as they seem to love what they're doing a lot...

Especially when Petrucci's nephews' new djent band is selling more than DT ever did...

Damn really? How did I not know that haha wow ok.

They should collab sometime soon. At this point I'm willing to accept anything DT does as long as it's something fresh and different

I have a feeling Petrucci will say "Been experimenting for the new album" and turn up with an 8 string

Ugh at least new DT are somewhat more interesting compared to all the djent copiers

I don't mind djent that much to be honest, I just find the music a bit too polished and I never thought I would ever say that about metal.

I didn't mind it until recently, it's just starting to sound just as repetitive as deathcore got at this point. I think I hate metal trends

Tesseract use it well, I just hate the vocals most of the time sadly. I think most bands sell themselves as "WE'RE DJENT, THEREFORE AUTOMATICALLY GOOD" and end having some really shitty riffs/songwriting

I actually love Tesseract's first album but the second was pretty disappointing

Got a couple of decent tracks on it like Proxy and Nocturne but the rest of is just kinda bland. One was much better

Yeah ironically if they had shed the djent sound it probably would've been leagues better

Possibly. I just think the vocalist is whiney and his voice is nothing interesting. Also, it's "epic" without actually being epic

When they released Nocturne and I heard it for the first time I shit you not I 100% actually believed that they had gotten a black gospel singer to be their new vocalist

Haha yeah, I can see where you're coming from with that. I just thought they got a 12 year old to sing for them or something
