Personally, off the dome, I gotta go with Over Now. The upbeat nature of the track catches you off guard but the lyrics are so upsetting and those leads in the last half of the track are absolutely fucking brutal.
It’s not their heaviest song for sure, but I think it it’s their *heaviest* song if you catch my drift

When I initially visited this album when getting into Alice in Chains at first I don't really feel like I understood it at all. The riffs were weird, gritty, and discomforting. I just returned to this album and I think it finally spoke to me. This album is beautiful in a fucked up, traumatized way and it's a really cathartic and calming listen once you digest the intention. I'm actually mindblown at the difference in enjoyment between my first time listening and now. This is pretty awesome.

The band (even to this day) never fucking missed man, truly one of the best rock bands of all time.

Now that I'm on board with this release I agree with you. Rainier Fog needs more time from me but still solid and the Duvall releases as a whole are very underrated and fun.

I don't think I will ever truly enjoy this one. Far too long and don't like the sound of it, unlike any of their other Layne-era records.

It's a tough but rewarding listen - not an album I come back to very often

Grating but not in a good way is how I'd summarise it.
I do love the tracks off of that one which ended up on the unplugged, so, that's something there.

for me it is crazy how his voice changed so much, even from jar of flies to this album

I think he really declined fast after the touring for Dirt. He sounded fucking rough on unplugged and that whole tour with Kiss.
I love their unplugged record, but god damn man he sounds 20 years older than he did in like ‘92

was it the drugs that facilitated his voice change too?

Layne's voice was not that deteriorated in 1995, though by 1996 it definitely had a more "grainy" and rough quality to it which you can definitely hear in the KISS shows.
His voice sounds different and distorted on Tripod because of different effects and modulations he was just toying around with:

He sounds great and completely normal at the Moore concert with Mad Season as an example (which was in 1995 during the recording of Tripod):
