to be more specific I love the instrumental parts and the solo is obviously goated but the vocal parts just bring it to a halt. the lyrics are really rough and Gabriel sounds pretty bored singing them, it's just a big step down from the instrumentals

This is their only album that gives Lamb a run for its money imo. They have multiple other superb albums, but those are the absolute peak for me.

I've learnt to appreciate this one's charms a lil more over the years in spite of natural aversion to the cheeriness of their sound, but why are some of Gabriel's vox on Foxtrot so annoying in comparison? Argh. Kinda surprised it has such a high average in all honesty cos it's a little messy and the keys are erm excessive. I should've probably looked elsewhere.

Foxtrot is a little perplexing to me. I gave it a 3.5, which is honestly one of my lowest Genesis ratings so far. Supper's Ready is just straight up incredible, but Time Table and Get Em Out by Friday just kind of exist. The opener is great too but the first 3 minutes allude to something far better than we end up getting.
This album though... This is incredible. Every song is awesome, esp the 3 big epics.

I absolutely agree about this album. It's simply awesome. This is probably my favourite album ever.
About Foxtrot I can see your point but I disagree a bit. Supper's Ready is simply a masterpiece, I also agree. But the other tracks despite a lower quality they're also amazing in my book. I think Time Table and Get Em Out by Friday are also two great tracks.
Somehow, the problem is that Supper's Ready eclipse all the other tracks on the album.
