and of course INXS and duran duran had a suicidal moment when they turned from their synthpop origins to alternative rock. INXS did pretty well, not so much for duran duran's.

It's not terrible, but St. Anger and ReLoad were far better than this. I honestly don't think it's as bad as people say, but it needed some work.

If Aerosmith would have made an album like reload, they would have probably saved their last years of career, get a grip and nine lives were awful.

i threw in some of my fav Garage Inc tracks in the mix and this shit is like a 5

Nah, garage inc. is a waste of money, even if you are a fan of albums dedicated to cover songs.

"Have you realised that most of the bands in the mid 90's were forced to change their style due to the popularity of grunge?, case and point kiss's carnival of souls is the only album I've listened from them just because I read they were influenced by the seattle scene."

You do realize that Metallica did not in no way have to change their sound. You do know that The Black album was the highest selling album period of the 1990's and, that happened with the emergence of Grunge/alternative music with Nirvana and, Pearl Jam. Hell Metallica Live shit box set that cost around 100 bucks at release still made 23 on top 200 billboard in 93'.

They no way needed to change their sound by the way, I never with bothered with Metallica all the songs I did hear on their next few albums I hated, and Metallica never was the same to me.

cant say this is really a watered down "alternative" sound at all.. it just hard rock/southern rock bar jams.. of course back in like 96 or whenever this dropped everyone was disappointed but i think it aged p well in 2016.

It seems like 90% of the people who rate Load below a 2.5/5 just heard it once in 96 and were pissed that it wasnt thrash

Actually I had the album and, I have listened to it several times So I'm part of that 10%. To me It is not that it's not a Thrash album Black gets a lot of shit too, and I like that album. Those albums after Black are really not that good, and James vocals suck on those albums. This comes for a guy who also listened to Punk, Ska, alternative, and Grunge at the time as well.

I found them annoying and, I saw Metallica in the 90's twice really good live performance pre-load after load came out, not so much just meh.

Honestly, this'd be a solid 4, maybe even a 4.5, if they released a 2 disc album like this:

Disc 1:

Ain't My Bitch

2x4

The Memory Remains

Until it Sleeps

King Nothing

Hero of the Day

The House Jack Built

Bleeding Me

Disc 2:

Mama Said

Wasting My Hate

Ronnie

Fixxxer

The Unforgiven II

Fuel

The Outlaw Torn

Might still be working on the song arrangement on disc two, but if it's not good as is, it only needs to be altered slightly, maybe 2 or 3 tracks change places.

Funnily enough, I inadvertently made both discs 44 mins long (disc 2 is ten seconds longer), so they're pretty damn well balanced time wise.

Regardless of how I feel about the music itself, James sounds awesome.

Until It Sleeps is an amazing song tbh. Very emotional.

This album has some gems but Cure is a mediocre song at best, Ronnie is annoying as hell, 2x4 is pretty bland, and Poor Twisted Me is a bottom 5 Metallica song. Album is way too long too.

Oh and I'm not too big on Hero of the Day
