I agree, I always thought Bergtatt was way overrated.

I know it's not part of the so-called trilogy but Vargnatt is kind of overlooked when it comes to their bm sound. The Trolsk Sortmetall remaster has rather decent production actually and though it's not quite on the level of the three full-lengths, it still is a great listen, considering it's the band's first release.

Some of you need to check it, at least based on how much you go on about the other three ..if anything there are some half-assed Mercyful Fate cleans for giggles.

you'll never hear an album like Bergtatt in 1995, not to mention this was during the second wave of Black Metal. Now almost every metal folk-black metal band *cough* Agalloch *cough*wants to emulate them

You don't have to cough. I'd say that's pretty obvious.

I don't think Agalloch has ever had the intention of emulating Ulver

Ulver were definitely a major influence for them, but Agalloch were, by no means, emulating them. They have a number of different stylistic influences incorporated into their early stuff.

Idk, I'm actually not that familiar with either band, but when I listened to these guys for the first time a couple of days ago, pretty much my first thought was "oh, so this is who Aggalloch wants to sound like."
