clayman was the beginning of the end yea but it still has some hard jamz

The leadwork on that album is still great, but it's the first one where Friden starts going from a mediocre vocalist to a downright unbearably shitty one. Personally I liked him better when he was just doing the deeper shout-growls with the occasional brief spoken word part as in TJR

The more he started doing those higher pitched screams the shittier he got
And then it got even worse when the inane idea he could sing clean for some reason crept into his head
