This is a sputnik album that really, truly deserves the hype.

hype should make you more interested in something. Don't worry, hype doesn't equal mainstream, so you won't lose any scene points by listening to this

hype kills things for most, it's natural though. this kind of came out of no where for me and i loved it immediately.

I bet sputnik didn't do much to increase its sales though.
Hey, it made me buy it. Used of course but I still purchased it.
sputnik albums really piss me off because there are so many great albums and musicians that go completely ignored here.
High five!

It's not so much in the song structure that these details lie, though. It's in the tiny little alterations made to a drum fill, or a guitar chord, or a vocal track, or background singing. This album is so subtle yet so blatant, somehow all at once. I'll stop now.... lol. But yes, give it more tries. Despite the way this community jerks off all over it, it truly is great.
Seriously man, it f*cking amazes me how you can say this and say 'BG isn't so good'. ANATO (and the other albums to an extent) does all the things you listed; the best description I could give about why I love it is the fact it's so subtle yet so blatant lol.
Anyway you're probably wondering why I don't love this album; to put it simply the whole emotional thing (vocals, lyrics, even some of the instrumentation) just doesn't do it for me and never will. I still appreciate these guys a lot though and think people who says this is a 2 or lower are being ignorant with their opinion.

RAAAAAAAAAAAGE

Well how you feel about emo pretty much sums up how I feel about most power metal. And i must admit that the only BG album I have is Nightfall in Middle Earth, and I think it's alright, but mostly forgettable, barring a few moments. I'll try and listen to it more carefully for your sake. From what I've heard of BG, I like their softer stuff a lot more than their bombastic stuff.

And about that link, Titan50... that guy was worse than a Nick Greer/John Hanson lovechild with half the vocabulary. He obviously didn't know a thing about the genre, which is pretty standard for people who negatively review this album.

this album feels like waiting for the good bits to happen

Please explain this to me. My taste in music doesn't have to conform to my fellow Sputnikers and it certainly shouldn't brand me as being "ignorant with my opinion". Like yourself, I don't understand this album and I probably never will. I think its poor in its song structures and the vocals are atrocious. Wait a minute....I guess that makes me ignorant with my opinion DURRRR!

Then it's probably just too grindy for you, which is understandable.

Grindy? Are you talking about 'Grind' as in metal because I love myself some grind. I just think it's unfocused in it's delivery.
