Revisiting this and I don’t understand the praise it gets. The instrumental elements are generally nice enough, but the vox are middling and the lyrics are truly awful.
It honestly might be better without any vocals at all.

it has their best atmosphere, music, and the lyrics are pretty good in many places tbh. don't know what the issue with the vox is. they fit they music perfectly and there are some great moments (vigil especially)

I don’t know, there’s just plenty of other things I’d rather listen to if I wanted atmospheric ambience. I’m not an expert on their discog as a whole, so not necessarily comparing it to their other work (but as far as Ulver goes I remember preferring Perdition City).
