'Jesus Christ, grow some testosterone.'
Great argument. I think when someone says this it's futile even trying to continue the discussion.

Wee children? Lmao I'm 30 dude, I'm not THAT young (not THAT old either, I guess).
"lol its funny too because ive heard literally hundreds of death metal bands that shit on Pantera so hard its not even"
Dude, death and thrash are my most listened to genres. My opinion still stands. Also yeah, you posted like 5 fucking times in a row lmao relax

"no, the infinitely more popular opinion that needs to die is that this band is good or noteworthy or "classic", and the fuckin 15 year olds worshipping dime like they never heard a proper guitarist with more than just speed on his mind"
I do kind of agree with this as well. Like, this was the era where guys like Ron Jarzombek, Tommy Vetterli, Marty Friedman, Tim Calvert, Alexander Sidorchik, Michael and Morten Stutzer, Rob Moore, Darren Travis, Uwe Baltrusch, etc. were active and they wrote far more interesting music. It sucks that Darrell had to go the way he did but come on.

I mean they did revolutionize their own sound and there are a ton of fucking amazing riffs and solos that have come from Dime. I think you guys are underrating the fuck out of them, but we're obviously not going to see eye to eye on this.

"I mean they did revolutionize their own sound"
And despite having two or maybe three good albums under their belt with Power Metal, Cowboys from Hell and TGST, their influence has mostly been a net negative due to mostly all the bands influenced by them naturally using Vulgar Display as a template. Their influence largely makes sense because they took elements of bands like Exhorder and made the sound generally toothless, safe and boring. If you consider the context of Pantera's genre-switch, they really don't seem that "revolutionary".

Imagine if The Great Southern Trendkill was the popular album instead of this thing. That'd be nice.

Ehhh I mean it's less thrashy than Exhorder but I certainly wouldn't say it's toothless or safe lol, you may not enjoy the music but it was some pretty heavy stuff, man. And I can see Exhorder similarities, but I don't think they're an exact clone as I have seen some people suggest. Side note: Saughter at the Vatican is fucking awesome, but I also love the hell out of this.
Also Power Metal isn't that great.

"Also Power Metal isn't that great."
I get your opinion on that but despite being Riot/Priest worship, it's already better than a lot of their other material on that basis alone.

Yeah, I dunno - I mean I mostly listen to Pantera at the gym or when I'm lifting shit to move out of a house or something like that. That never requires Riot/Priest worship era Pantera lol - also I just generally think that Vulgar and on is much more of where their identity lies, glam era Priest is kind of embarrassing imo

I like how this paved the way for FBD. That's where they really shifted gear and reached their peak for me.
