Ok but you said you like the music, have you even tried with the remastered version? I'd get why some folks wouldn't appreciate 80's metal production (which at the same time is part of the charm of most metal records of the time), but a 1.5 still is pretty harsh considering there are far worse sounding albums of that epoch, and considering the bass doesn't even sound as remotely as bad as you claim. The drums are far from sloppy, too lol

It sounds very organic, actually. My only gripe are probably the guitars, even though they are nicely mixed with the bass, they are very hard to follow midway. The riffs kind of sound samey until Baptized In Blood, where they stand out. There's only so much a remaster can do, and the only way to make this sound "cleaner" is to re-record the guitars, which would be completely unnecessary.
