i don't think it's that weird a song to hate, it suffers from the same problem all these songs do in that it's constantly moving through disjointed sections with unearned transitions that almost never pay off. average af Maynard performance and reasonably phoned in riffs, the lead breaks are the only thing that makes it stand out since it was relatively rare for Adam to have lead breaks on earlier Tool albums, especially ones that were actually somewhat technically challenging

We have ourselves a schooled tool fan. One more question before we become joined at the dick: what's the best tool album, jas?

I thought responding anything other than Lateralus is obectively the wrong answer tho?

It is, but not everyone agrees on that and that's the problem

10,000 Days is an entirely acceptable answer tbh

10,000 Days takes full advantage of the band's most underrated member - Adam Jones, so I agree that it's up there. Also, when they play Vicarious live you realize that song is a masterpiece of musical effect that they'll never replicate. Too bad the studio version is trash.

"Makes sense. I love playing vicarious, but I always shit the bed on the outro"

You mean the hammer-on parts? Oh man that's so much fun. So fun that I ripped it off for one of my own songs. xD

Depends on the mood, but Lateralus and Aenima are pretty close for me. 10,000 Days would be up there if they didn't insist in messing up the flow of the album with interludes and closing up with 5 min of background noises.

Aenima has stuff like (-)Ions, and that's freaking me out. I mean, that interlude isn't doing anthing. I enjoy stuff like Mantra or Die Eier von Satan, but (-)Ions is so pointless

The last tracks of weird noises are so unnecessary that I just ignore them. The last song is over anyway. I don't get why they're doing this

Aenima and Lateralus are the clear cut top 2 for me. The others are fantastic but don't quite have the same impact.

i used to think Aenima was a 5,but i honestly don't really care much for jimmy or Pushit tbh, and half the interludes are shit
