I’ll admit that chino is a little buried in the mix but the song is still pretty fire

I kinda like that Chino is buried in the mix a bit. It works in shoegaze as it makes the song sound dreamier somehow.

i thought it was an odd choice for a lead single

Production is top notch and its about time we start putting singers in the mix instead of over the mix.

@zac
You may be right, hopefully the rest of the album is a little dreamier then, because I really don’t like how buried he sounds on a song that goes pretty hard.

Waiting for everyone else to catch up : )

I think it’s a great song but I do think chino is just a tad low in the mix. Idk maybe I did flip flop I don’t remember

Nah Chino is well placed. Saying the production is top notch is for sure a reach but only looking at instrument placement/volme it's good at least.

i remember the day requiem by korn came out, and on another site i rightfully said "this is produced like shit", and every single person replying to me bit my head off about it, only for some of those same people to admit 3 days later that it was in fact produced like shit
give these things time we'll figure it out

You can say it's produced like shit but you cannot really say it's because Chino is low in the mix lmfao. Drums are quite off EQ wise but the rest of it is fine imo. Sure could be more polished but that is a taste thing.

oh no, MMIAM isn't produced "like shit" the way requiem is, but it /is/ imperfect, and chino /is/ buried
people reflexively defending from any slights and gripes against new material from their favorite band, only to later come to understand for themselves the more nuanced elements (both positive and negative) of said material once it isn't new, is the common factor i was getting at
we'll properly figure out if it's an overall good production job or a bad one once we can slot it within the context of the album and listen to said album like 20 times

i don't like when bands use the opener or the closer as a single and these guys do that constantly
|

Album Rating: 3.5
true. pretty much all of their openers have been singles (if you count "back to school" from wp)

I don’t, fuck that song.
And ya after giving it a few days I gotta say on its own it’s probably their weakest opener aside from Swerve City

as for some concerns about "my mind is a mountain" being short most songs here are about 3-4 min long with a couple of 6 min songs ("souvenir" and "departing the body"). album is almost the same length as diamond eyes
i'm glad this is not a superheaven type scenario where they seemed to have written an album for short attention span tiktokers
edit: @Wildcardbitchesss im probably in the minority here but i like it because of how pink maggot bookends the album

Ya no complaints about the album length, tho it’s very weird having a lot of the songs be so short. i think about you all the time & milk of the madonna just barely clear four mins and the rest are shorter aside from the two you mentioned.
Hoping those two are substantial and not long because of more ambient instrumentals. I gotta say tho the outros on Spell of Mathematics and Pompeji are the best parts of those songs so I guess I’m not really sure what I’m hoping for. I know if they drop another single I’ll probably just hold off for the full thing. Copped the numbered gatefold that’s now sold out and will probably get the purple covered indie exclusive
