I prefer "laterally the same", literally.

It's kinda nice seeing people defend this, all I ever notice is people talking about how boring it is.
I've never been a Tool fan anyway, and I highly this'll be the one to change my mind.

this actually might be their least accessible album. it definitely won't change someone's opinion of the band.

It’s absolutely their least accessible, for better and for worse.

Yep. This is the antithesis to popular music. Need to listen to it again, so good

I got so used to making jokes about the new Tool album never coming out that sometimes I forget it actually did

After months and months of money spent and numerous downloads I have finally found a 24bit rip with higher dynamic range and less clipping than the crappy CD and HDtracks version.
Now that I am finally able to enjoy the LP with somewhat decent production I can safely say that it's their 2nd best after Lateralus.
Having seen them live in Prague last summer, I can confirm that these new songs (Invincible + Descending) simply sounded more impressive and well-rounded than anything from Aenima.

Aenima, to me, always seemed addressed solely to their American audience. Being from Eastern Europe, I just cannot relate to most messages on that record, they're very geographical. Scientology, California/LA, fake fans, I just don't want to hear that kind of stuff. For us here it's all about surviving, spirituality and catching up to the West.
I love Third Eye, jimmy (takes guts as a male to talk about being raped at such an young age - props to Maynard), 46&2, Push It. But I WORSHIP Descending, Invincible and Fear Inoculum, they're all in my top 10 from the band. ^^

takes guts to admit that tool are better when their songs have no tangible subject matter than when they get the US issues out. on brand kyary fan take, i like it
