Yeah, Deftones definitely borrow a lot from Hum. Like the Cherry Waves and the If You are to Bloom choruses.

“how are they ripping off AtF lol”
The guitarwork all over Were Not Here to Be Loved to me at least sounds exactly like something Steph would’ve written for Adrenaline/Around the Fur. They get a pass from me because they do it really well but it’s super clear who their influences are.
And tbh there’s nothing really wrong with that. “Ripping off” made it sound a lot harsher than I meant, I really do like Fleshwater a lot

@Relinquished Fair point. But I never said it was bad and I am aware of that it is without context of the full album. But at the same time, surely that goes the other way. In context, the single may get worse so you can't say what you said either.

it's actually pretty wild that i remember them being absolutely massive when white pony came out and it pales in comparison to now

Loved the new song. It’s almost exactly what I hoped to hear from them somehow.

@zac: tbh the last part goes to others
@wildcard: personally it’s hard for me to divorce that it sounds like Vein covering Deftones, Veruca Salt, even a bit of stuff like Misery Signals if we’re talking in the spirit of riffing. I didn’t get those vibes much from the demo too and I listened to AtF to death

@scoot and @jay
crazy how that can be attributed to the internet and how fast the online population grew and was exposed to them since each of those releases

yeah definitely was the case for diamond eyes, people were desperate for eros and then all of a sudden it dropped in a different form
snw had a lot of detractors after the self titled

Yeah new song is pretty solid, absolutely love that bridge section. Chino may have lost his scream but his singing voice sounds better than ever. Seemed a bit short and anticlimactic tho so I'm gonna reserve my hype for the full album.

It feels like the opener I expected for KNY and instead I got Swerve City

swerve city was definitely a curveball opener
i ruined leathers by listening to it 56 times before kny dropped, not doing that here. two listens and that's it. that song blew my fucking balls off

honestly the band themselves are kind of goobers
stephen is a sweaty meatball that thinks the earth is flat and chino absolutely fucked sergio vera for years because he was sad about chi dying
