"Faraudo bro no need to get so butthurt. It is absurd though. Been out 2 days and many are claiming its the best album ever made lol. That's ridiculous to me I'm sorry lol."

I get where you're coming from Hawks, it might be absurd, but the same thing has happened with many legitimately great records, the latest example being State Fault's Children of the Moon. It was "overhyped" from the get-go, and it remained hyped because it's truly an excellent album.

If it goes down it goes down, I've dropped a fair share of early 5s which is why usually I'm hesitant to go there but I truly do love this new album. If it goes down then okay fine, but 4.5 is still a very high score, I dropped Heavener to 4.5

Pretty floored on my first listen.

I enjoyed Infinite Granite a decent amount, but nothing since Sunbather did much for me. Feels like they're finally fully realizing their potential

George sounds fucking great

man the early to mid 2010s was a crazy era for black metal

This, teethed glory and injury, das tor, the satanist, roads to the north, phobos monolith, Gris, akhlys, blut aus nord, elyssian blaze, aquilus, plebeain grandstand etc and all the blackened sludge like indian and coffinworm

The scene's definitely stalled in terms of creativity but I guess it was inevitable

oh yeah man that's how i got into black metal. just reading all the metal blogs and checking the popular stuff, luckily it was all amazing and aged even better. if it didn't have that explosion idk if i ever would've dove into bm that early. what a time. then i jumped right into darkthrone and it became one of my favorite genres m/
