I don't see why everyone gives this album such low marks. Its obvious that they're mimicking old-school Metallica, but who cares, it doesn't make the album horrible. It definitely isn't original, or constantly high quality, and you can pick out the riffs and solos and link them back to the originating bands... but its still an ok listen.

To Steerpike: Anyone who digs the likes of Testament, Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Destruction, Kreator likes this new album or is being a hater... their music fits right alongside those guys so either people don't like Thrash (nothing against it) or just like to be "old school" and hate new stuff that resembles thrash from the 80's and 90's



For the record, I like and own almost every album from all of the aforementioned bands.





To Thehamburgerman: By calling them amateurs you're dropping down to the level of those who claim that they're the best. You can drool all you want over Geddy Lee's pants and I've got nothing against it even though I don't like Rush that much BUT calling these guys amateurs makes me think you're just another 5 year old like the one who said they're the best. I don't call Neil Morse amateur just because I don't dig his music!

The cds before this was very deathmelodic. now become a incredible copy of the new metalica, and what i see of the note of this album, no ones like to.

I have to disagree with this. Trivium cleaned up there act when it came to this album. Their vocals aren't screams. Their riffs are alot heavier. ALL thanks to them doing a cover of Master Of Puppets. SO...thanks to Metallica, Trivium has become Thrash Metal. Instead of that made-up genre "Metalcore"



In my eyes Thrash Metal is WAY better than that "metalcore" bullcarp

This review seems a great place to look for retards and joke profiles that never make it past 10 posts.

I gave "Ascendancy" a listen and I thought it completely rocked. But I just listened to "The Crusade" this morning because my friend bought it and it's completely wrong. Heafy used to have an awesome metalcore scream and they replaced it with this normal sing crap. What the hell happened??

I hate Metallica too.

ZePortouga makes the claim they aren't amatuers. Maybe not at their respective instruments (from what I stood listening to them, they had a fair bit of talent with their playing), but they are terribly amatuer when it comes to songwriting. Maybe if they shot Matt Heafy, got a new singer, and learned how to write music, they could become a better band. As now, they are by far one of the bands that I can't stand the most.
