Yeah it’s really bad. I think the worst track might be the stooges cover.

Best track for me was definitely their original, Gemini. I also didn’t mind Filler/I Don’t Want To Hear It. Every other song though... -shudders-

Whiskey In The Jar was kind of ok because Metallica didn't disguise their downfall in any way with that. It was like 'yeah we're bad now but we're fucking owning it'.

Yeah I do actually really like that one. Most of the rest of garage isn’t as enjoyable tho

Yeah they really shine when they do. Prime reason I prefer this to RIB, for example.

These two albums are almost tied up for me, the only reason i've given rib a 5 rating is that it was the first slayer album i jammed in its entirety and it holds a sentimental value to me. Silly reason, i know...

I hear you junkie. I also got my mind blown by RiB, so this didn't quite make the same impact. It also needs a peak imo.

They never really replicated that Postmortem-Raining Blood combo that makes a metalhead orgasm like nothing else.

True, the postmortem-raining blood combination is such a killer tune when combined. Probably the best thrash i've heard along with angel of death.

Now, about that "peaking" you spoke of, i do believe they conquered new peaks with this record. The wailing guitars and the horror they conjured with Dead Skin Mask, the solos of War Ensemble which sounded like actual guitar solos, the epic t/t and all that encompasses, the groovy, stomping musicianship of songs such as Skeletons and Expendable Youth. I could really go on. This album doesn't unleash an onslaught like RiB but it has "heart" and grooves hard.

With this album, Slayer did things they've haven't really attempted before and they succeeded.
