Yeah I can't get behind that at all. I'd take Tribe 100 times out of 100 in that debate lol.

This is way more fun than damn. Damn was all about kendrick dealing with losing his faith.

Album Rating: 4.5
Damn still had a lot of emotionally heavy stuff in between the bangers tho it's technically my bottom album from the man but it's still got great tracks

this is more upbeat but damn is very commercial compared to tpab or good kid.

Album Rating: 3.5
Its commercial but still a pretty dark album. A banger in the sense of expressing anger or grief. Good kid also has some pretty commercial tracks with one ironically being the song with drake.

i wouldn't describe the majority of good kid as pop rap though as i would mostly with this or damn. just my opinion tho.

Swimming Pools used to annoy me with that hook bc it was EVERYWHEREEE but I dig it now

the majority? and maad city i would say no to it being pop rap lol
|

I don’t think it was as an abrupt transition if you take tpab out of the equation. He’s been writing pop songs since section 80

i said the majority! and i never heard good kid songs on the radio like he is now, that's not all just because he got bigger.
|
| |
the production of gkmc is very 90’s hip hop but you can still hear the pop influence in his hooks
|
| |
also there’s a difference between commercial and pop

sure i don't disagree. i just think damn and this are quite different in their intention and style than good kid. just me tho.
