Oh, you think dao is your ally. But you merely adopted the dao; I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding

I think this album is an improvement on almost all aspects of the bands talent, sound, and song writing. A lot of us are understandably attached to their previous albums sound. Hell, we had damn near half a decade to listen to it and grow to love it
They nailed this follow up album, to the point that it’s universally loved and is subject to criticisms like- “it doesn’t sound the same as the other album”
Obviously I’m generalizing a lot of narratives, but my point is that this album will will age like fine wine, just like Empt Black did

I do not look forward to having to sort out my top ten.
Daoboys, Persefone, Ashenspire, Blue October, Pale December, Lupe Fiasco, this, Rolo, etc etc all gonna be in contention.

I still need to sit down and give this album a good three spins or so. Probably the most overlooked album for me this year.

I was actually referencing Citizen Kane when Orson Welles picks up Spongebob and tells him to look at rosebud or whatever.
