The only time I saw them live (years ago in Chicago) I wasn’t head banging - I was full body banging. It was like a religious experience

While you guys are discussing the body-banging, I have my own contribution. The ending of "Phantoms" literally just has me spinning my head in a circle as I hear it. I like to describe the automaton-style and polyrhythms of Meshuggah as slowly spinning down a well of darkness. And the instruments just spin in different sequences

I don't think anyone will ever be like Meshuggah. It's imminently pleasurable to hear them at 31, feeling incredibly old and tired, and having Kidman Haake and Thordendal tell me "I think the fuck not"

@Tranta out here spitting facts. Everything you said is exactly how I feel and how I fell in love with them too. It eventually just hits. Now I have to listen to them almost once a week lol
“Chest-hitting with fist for me” [2]

@Relinquished
Yep that track is one of the good examples.
I also get the head-spinnin' thing, it's a circular, vortex-like groove thing.
