Thought this was mediocre at first. Had a few listens and was hooked. The album as a whole is cohesive and well thought out. "Gore" was a joy .

Have to agree the that 'softer' side of this album is superior, although 'Heavy is the Head...' is a straight banger. Other than including A Sad Cartoon', I can't really say it better than...

I’m gonna be honest I fucking hate the black metal riff in “Heavy is the Head”. It’s only there to give the band cred and is immediately discarded when its fulfilled its usefulness

Strange opinion, I’m sure if the band wanted ‘cred’ they would write entirely different music than this. Not sure who they’re even trying to get ‘cred’ with by having a section you think sounds like black metal given that black metal fans are the most elitist around and would never like a band with songs like ‘Is It Really You?’ on their album?
