Back to back great tracks. In regards to ISIS’ vocals, Aaron Turner almost completely lost his ability to bellow out heavy, clipped vocals (think Celestial), but CoL have thankfully never had that issue, whether it be Klas or Johannes.
It hasn’t stopped raining all day where I am. This album has been perfect, especially Lights On The Hill.

I was just thinking about how different post bands make me feel. Isis makes me feel like my body is getting crushed by the weight of water (so literally Oceanic). Caspian makes me feel like I'm hurtling through space. Explosions in the Sky like I'm on a shimmering beach, Meniscus like I'm all alone on a boat in the middle of the ocean looking at the stars.
Cult of Luna make me feel like I'm walking through a muddy field in the pouring rain. Grey, damp, thick, but refreshing.

weirdly enough the adjective that keeps coming to mind when I spin this is 'muscular.' It's impressive how much atmosphere they wring out of such an intense, swaggering sound
also gosh I wish Caspian would write another LP

Re the vocals, I dig them. I'm very picky with harsh vox. When I like them I usually love them but if I don't like them they are an easy deal-breaker for me. Very hard for me to get over harsh vox that don't sit well with me. Thankfully these click, they are expressive, powerful, but not over the top. It probably helps that they aren't worlds away from post hardcore vox, which I'm quite accustomed to. These don't feel that dissimilar from what you get on, say, Thrice's Vheissu.

Cult of Luna always had a post-apocalyptic feel for me. Like I‘m wandering through a grey abandoned town

*almost dark forest, clearing ahead, low light skies with few clouds, a biting cold wind and the light of a small cabin yellow in the distance

The title track isn’t getting enough love itt, it’s placed perfectly in the tracklist

It’s the start of a great run, I love it a lot actually, just marginally overshadowed by the two tracks that follow it.
These guys always give me war-torn post-apocalyptic vibes, or roaming across a barren wasteland, but I’m pretty sure that’s because I’ve played far too much Fallout over the years. This sort of thing does make for a perfect soundtrack.

This band gives me huge Metro 2033 vibes. Especially Dark City, Dead Man for some reason.

@DDD: remains one of my most played games, got every achievement as well (which I never do). It’s definitely harder than the latest one. Ahh, memories.

Yeah, the two following the t/t & Inland Rain are better. It’s all brilliant though so if you don’t like t/t then maybe it won’t persuade you otherwise.

Am I the only one who thinks the title track could also be the first song?

the title track was okay, definitely wasn't blown away by it. not bad, kind of just w.e. been there, done that, doesn't really stand out to me in the genre or even in the band's discog

I think my favorite is track two, honestly. The first ~two minutes of it are awesome.
