"This whole album sounds heavily influenced by Discipline. Then again, King Crimson influenced a lot of Tool's sound in general."
Please don't insult King Crimson like that xD

Maybe if you count extended riffage as a solo, but it's not what I'd have in mind.

Yeah, thinking Tool are as good as/better than King Crimson is pretty fucking stupid

i just read it yesterday in a review that one of the longest songs has a 7 minute guitar solo in it

They spent 13 years tiptoeing around this one. The writing process seems to have been torture. I would be surprised if this wasn't their last. But you never know. Hoping for a one song EP Pleiades Dust/I style tbh.
The longest song is 15 minutes and a 7 minute guitar solo would take up half of that song. I'm very sure there is no song on this that's 50% guitar solo. It's for the better though imo, the guitars are one of this one's weak points, honestly.

is the digital edition better than the standard?

@Pika I don't think Tool are better than KC either but it's absurd to deny that Tool were influenced by KC, especially given they toured together back in the early 2000s.
I mean, I like Faith No More, but I'm not going to deny that they influenced a legion of shite nu-metal bands with "Epic".

"is the digital edition better than the standard?"
Depends on whether or not you're one of those who disliked past Tool interludes. That's all the digital exclusive tracks are. I think they add a nice touch to the album, but I've never had as much of a problem with interludes as other people have.

Well, to be fair, beefshoes called it an insult to state that Tool have been influenced by King Crimson. Facts can't be insults, so yeah. It's not even denying, that's just a dumb line of thought.

As expected. The haters and snobs who dislike Tool are bullshitting again. If you’re a fan of Tool and have heard things like “The album is very disappointing.” Or “13 years for some improv in Dm pentatonic for 90 mins.” Don’t listen.
Fear Inoculum is absolutely fantastic and anyone who likes Tool is going to fall in love with it, so if you are shitposting about it you’re either joking or not a fan. So, here’s some advice, you might want to stop wasting your time listening to albums and bands you know full well you won’t like before you even start it and use that time to enjoy artists and groups you actually do like, or better yet, go make your own music.
As regards to Fear Inoculum, I’m hesitant to say it’s their best record to date, it could be. Let’s remember Lateralus wasn’t the holy grail of Tool upon the first listen, more like “what the fucking shit did I just experience.” Fear Inoculum is a lot like that, as far as I’m concerned (MY opinion) Lateralus is the only record still standing up to Fear Inoculum and i will have to listen many many more times before I come to a conclusion on which is better, if I come to a conclusion.
In other words (fans), don’t listen to the butthurt, wanna be music critics who are probably salty because of all the attention Tool is getting while there favourite band can only dream to support them one day, Fear Inoculum is fantastic. And that is coming from a fan of Tool, not an obsessor, or a hater. Just a casual listener.

@Rik That's what I mean. All kinds of awful bands have cited influential bands as their inspiration, but that's not an insult. That's how I feel about 1980s Metallica/Slayer and pizza-thrash, Meshuggah and bedroom "djent" projects, FNM and nu-metal, etc.
@Pika I figured I needed a Patton avatar to go with the username, and this is definitely the best FNM album cover.
