thing is the fact you and people in general specifically pick on female pop artists like ariana as examples of "superficial-ass culture" is more relevant and worth of thought than what you actually said

That’s pathetic dude. I can’t voice my opinion on one particular female pop artist without being shamed? You think I respect dumb fucks like Migos who support the same superficial bullshit? It’s all the same. I just don’t like the current state of the music industry in general right now, or at least the type of values they promote. Catch me in a drake thread saying the same exact shit.

And there’s nothing more you need to read into it than that. You can’t read my mind.

implying superficial people shouldn't be respected. and again the most interesting thing about your comment is that other examples you could think of are black rappers

i'd love to catch you in a metallica thread saying the same thing though

I have never commented in a Metallica thread in my entire life, so probably not. But wtf? Why do you gotta try so hard to frame me as the villain? Do moral judgements just fly out the window based on your number of chromosomes or pigment of your skin? To think that is more fucked up than anything I’ve said.

And for the record, John Lennon beat his wife, Jimmy Page and David Bowie were pedophiles, and pop stars like Adam Lambert and Adam Levine are just as superficial as ari, migos, and drake.

Maybe my grief with superficial people is unwarranted, but to think that anything I’ve said means anything more than that makes you the asshole.

I always think of Sgt. Pepper’s as the height of artistic solipsism but it’s been integrated into culture so thoroughly that it’s easy to forget. ANd it also slaps. Hard to evaluate self-absorption in the context of the expressive possibilities of art

That’s exactly why I think 7 Rings is a good song even though I don’t agree with the lifestyle it represents. The fact that it slaps makes it more infectious and influential.

hey chill man no one's shaming you or trying to frame you for anything lol sorry if i made you feel that way? i'm just trying to point out the most superficial thing here is how your notion of superficiality only applies to some. like when you pick out "7 rings" but ignore the fact that this has songs like "ghostin" "thank u, next" and "fake smiles"

Fair point. I guess I am focusing more on the impact of the singles, and not even the T/T since that does have a fairly positive message.

Drake’s schtick is so blatantly obvious it’s not worth mentioning. As my friend put it, “Repping drake is like repping Walmart.”
