She also got a nom for Album of the Year (not that that means anything I suppose)

It wasn't nearly as big as Pure Heroine (has anything been as big as that album since?) but I wouldn't say this flopped. Still debuted at #1 on the charts, made like every publication's top 10 of last year, aoty nod etc... arguably higher achievements than scoring a viral hit.
Can't help but think the Homemade Dynamite remix stemmed from a Back to School situation tho

I thought this was underwhelming af when i first listened to it.
Gave it a go recently, and i still feel this is massively overrated. The instrumentals specially sound so flat, muffled and uninteresting.
I get the vibe it tries to give out, but instead of nocturnal it sounds sleepy, and not in a good way.
edit: Nah, fuck being nice, I fucking HATE 90% of all the instrumentals in this. Muffled ass SHIT. Whoever produced this sucks.

Last 2 tracks feel a little more alive, everything's so muffled its a shame really, i like the songs themselves. With different prod i'd give this a big bump.

This is so much better than her debut in literally every way conceivable

Pure Heroine is better! “Ribs,” “400 Lux,” and “A World Alone” alone...

nah man...400 Lux is an ace I'll give you that, but Melodrama avoids the hit-or-miss makeup that dominated her debut.

Yeah no way, Melodrama is much more consistent.

Idk to me even the “filler” on PH is pretty good and the great songs are fucking awesome...whereas here, I dunno, the songwriting isn’t quite there? It could definitely have to do with her ditching Joel Little and picking up Antonoff, whose touch I hate (St. Vincent’s “New York”? Yuck)
But there is a cool personality in this album for sure that is fully Lorde’s. Yet I only REALLY like “green light” (and even that song I have some troubles with)
