"I didn't read it as aggressive at all so idk why bad words are suddenly a problem."

I was desperate to get my point across.

I recall this album should have some kind of vague concept about love's negative aspects so it probs means something to Mikael that makes it more powerful to his ears I guess

This really seems like the final nail in the coffin for the band to a lot of people, it'll be interesting to see if this ages any better with people the way Heritage did.

I liked it. i connected with it way more than either of their past two albums; actually it's helped me appreciate both of those more than I had.

"Sorceress" in particular is maybe their best song since Ghost Reveries. "Era" is so fun and so strong. "The Wilde Flowers" is psychedelic but still dark. I hear a lot of ritual in this album.

But it's true, I find it hard to directly relate to their prior work, which remains some of my favorite things ever.

the transition is smoother when seen in this order

Blackwater Park -> Ghost Reveries -> Watershed -> Sorceress -> Pale Communion -> Heritage -> Damnation

Damnation fits perfectly between Deliverance and Ghost Reveries though

The ending is one of those hidden track bs endings tho, the actual song ends after 10 minutes

It doesn't feel long to me either, if anything it feels too short as a closer to that album
