New one is perhaps their most demanding album in that it asks you to let go of expectations of 'intensity.' George's vocals are mixed in as if it's dream pop, and the music is often closer to indie/alt rock than anything resembling metal. Taking the music on the band's terms (which has always been an implicit request by Deafheaven), it's a very successful outing. Such confident and boundless tunes with a totally different feel than Sunbather, despite the ostensible similarity in the 'happy' sound.
