That he combined several genres and brought it to the mainstream, and they accepted it, so much was going on in the album, a successfully combined different diverse elements and put it together and it flowed like a piece of art. His rapping was some of the best of his career, that his album influenced others to follow such as GKMC or Channel orange, he broke ground for the decade and set a blueprint for the others to follow. There was a lot going on in the album, and it all seemed to flow extremely well, the production was incredible. For the mainstream this was awesome, for the underground, it wasn't something totally new though. He brought out the best of his collaborations as well

except that it wasnt successful at all, the mesh of genres was a complete mess, the flow was terrible, and it was about as artistic as the shit i just took. which is funny because there was once an artist who canned his shit and sold it at the going rate of gold at the time. which is exactly what kanye did. he canned his shit and sold it to you all. the only thing impressive about kanye is his uncanny ability to feed you his bullshit, i respect the shit out of that (and also hate the world that much more for it).

"
why? mainstream artists have been extremely innovative and prevalent in like all genres ever at some point or another..."
Come on, the underground starts the innovation, then it leads to the mainstream. Its mostly been like that. for hip hop people like El-P or any Cannibal Ox or Deltron 3030 set the trends for what modern hip hop is, we can hear their influence today. Not saying that mainstream is never innovative, just that you can't always expect it to be more innovative than the ever changing underground.

Ok you hate Kanyes music, lets just move on. This will go nowhere.
|

imo kanye has done literally nothing important at all
Several rappers in the mainstream (and underground-ish) have said tha he's one of their biggest influences and is probably the biggest rapper right now, I can't think of a still active mainstream rapper who have so many people claim that about them other than jay-z and nas
u dont gotta like him or anything ofc but to say he hasnt done something important is kind of ridiculous - the mainstream would be wildly different today without him

There's no use. It's like talking to a wall...an Asian-obsessed, trolling wall.

yeah well at this point we are just seperating mainstream from underground hip-hop for the sake of you guys being able to say "kanye and kendrick are the best rappers....................... IN THE MAINSTREAM" who cares what their audience is, thats arbitrary.

Kanye is the best rapper there is if you don't include good rappers

yeah and they are all shit and subscribe to the bullshit he feeds them too. i never said he didnt influence people, i said his influence is poison. and yeah the mainstream would be different... for the better.

Potsy beat me to it

Kanye and Kendrick have put out some of the best projects from 2010-2015. Please tell me who else has put out a better project? Shitbazz Palaces? Nope. Open mike eagle? Nope. Mick Jenkins? Nope. Death Grips? lol do I need to even say anything?
|
| |
all of those people u just listed have put out music about 1000x better than kanye without a doubt, if you think kanye has done anything of artistic value you are a brainwashed slave to consumerism. kendrick is more arguable for some of those, more of a matter of opinion (except for shabazz and deathgrips which are objectively about 1000x more innovative than ken)

That he combined several genres examples being?
and brought it to the mainstream, and they accepted it, so much was going on in the album, a successfully combined different diverse elements and put it together and it flowed like a piece of art. what is this sentence
His rapping was some of the best of his career, Yeah but
that his album influenced others to follow such as GKMC or Channel orange, to what? rap well?
he broke ground for the decade and set a blueprint for the others to follow. what specifically do you mean by that
There was a lot going on in the album, and it all seemed to flow extremely well, the production was incredible. that's not relevant to my question
|

Run the jewels have put out amazing hip hop this decade so far, Killer mike and El-P solo work also is great. But seriously? No underground rapper has put out a better project imo.
|

"slave to consumerism"
Yeah ok, you're one of those people huh

It's kind of ridiculous to dismiss Kanye's talent as a producer. His flow and especially lyrics can be hit-or-miss but to think that he doesn't have an ear for producing is kinda stupid whether you like his stuff or not

Mate you forget about run the jewels and death grips is the shit. Maybe not better than this but RTJ2 is better than anything kanye's done
