A double album that keeps it interesting (and banging) thoughout both discs, definitely their best work to date.

Checking this (and this band) for the first time. Not sure I get the melodeath label. To me it just sounds like metalcore.

They used to be way more melodeath, but to be fair the market is oversaturated with melodeath-inspired metalcore bands so I can see that line of thinking.

These guys are good but I wish Strid used his original vocal style, would be way cooler.

You should check their first two albums.

And yeah I mean metalcore basically exists because of melodeath so obviously there's a line that's hard to draw between the two. But to me this is more like KSE than like Dark Tranquillity.

I feel you, melodeath definitely isn't responsive for metalcore though haha. They surfaced around the same time actually. Unless you just referring to that style of metalcore.

Really? I thought metalcore (at least the sound we know today) was basically born with Slaughter of the Soul

and then KSE took that and added clean vocals to it

It definitely had an influenced on a lot of modern metalcore band, but early metalcore bands like Rorschach, Deaguy, Starkweather, and Kiss It Goodbye have no melodeath influence whatsoever, they were born mainly out of the hardcore scene.

I've never heard of any of those bands so I'm guessing you know more about this ahaha

I haven't really heard a lot of metalcore but KSE was the fucking jam back in grade 7.

I just like the genre haha. I'm not really into the melodeath-influenced stuff, but seeing as you have Jane Doe at a 5, you should check the bands I mentioned. They basically served as influence for Converge and similar metalcore bands.

there were like 2 or 3 different kinds of metalcore back then. the kse stuff is melodic metalcore because it fused with melodeath. the oldest style of metalcore is more hardcore based

Awesome haha, I can Rec more metalcore too if you're interested, and Mort. can Rec more than I can, I'm sure you've seen him around.

Btw Bathory looks good in pink.

yeah I guess you could distinguish the latter from the former by calling it metallic hardcore but idk

Yea Gameofmetal knows the drill. The early noisy metalcore is what I dig the most.

It means the same thing really, just a combination of hardcore punk and metal.
