The production on ObZen was much more frightening, this one is much more organic. I love both albums almost equally, though as of now I prefer Koloss. It's just different, I don't think one necessarily 'slays' the other. And DotEight why you hating, buddy?

"I Am Colossus" is a really boring track.

I Am Colossus is pretty good imo, it burns along nice and slowly, and the vox are really effective. Every chug is like a titans foot hitting the ground. Just massive

I agree. it doesn't hit you right away like a lot of other Meshuggah. but you sit there and really listen close, you realize you're sitting in a fishing boat in the middle of a hurricane.

The album definitely has its moments, but ultimately I feel the album is overly boring. Stand out tracks for me were "Do Not Look Down" and "Break Those Bones Who Sinews Gave it Motion".

there is a nice swung groove that a bunch of the songs have, but yeah, the album is growing on me, but ever so slowly. the only song that blew me away on first listen was marrow. each of the other songs have their moments, but there are definitely no stengahs or rational gazes on here.

You probably shouldn't make statements like this that are factually false, doesn't do much for your credibility.

@nick-I personally think Behind the Sun and Demiurge are just as good or better than Rational Gaze and Stengah. It's a lot different. And I Am Colossus is terrifying, some of Jens best work to date.

I Am Colossus rules. That huge ascending riff makes the song sound so fucking evil.

"Guzzling down your dreams - the tears of unheard pleas I drink,

Imbibe with such delight the fear that floods your temporal shell

Raging red rivers and streams - the kingdom of my shadow

Where dread of man in endless night revives my every cell"

Yup. Now I'm hard.
