I don't get why Lou did this as a spoken-word album, instead of injecting emotion into his poetry to match with the heavy riffing. What was the point of getting Metallica to play the riffs if he wasn't going to use them to complement his own ideas at all? I like vulgar poetry (Ginsberg's Howl, for example), but when it's so boringly read it's not interesting or impacting at all, even with thrash riffz behind it.
