I can't imagine putting heroes over this. I think they both underwhelmed me at first (also doing discog runs is exhausting, I should space out my listening), but low has continued to grow more and more after 5 plays. Heroes I'm 3 plays in and it's great stuff but at least half of it doesn't sound essential

I once went to Warsaw (on a train with Iggy Pop)

discog walk; between this and Heroes, i do prefer the later. That said, this album is excellent.

My issue with heroes is the ambient tracks are just boring af. On this, a new career, subterranean, and Warsaw are fantastic

Agree, that they are both good in their own way, "Low" is excellent, indeed.

after like 9 plays i think heroes is honestly almost as good as this but they're so different from each other, outside of them both having ambient tracks in the latter half (and even then, the mood is way different). they're both near-perfect for totally different reasons

this feels like an album that would be beloved by a lot of more hardcore fans but more polarizing in general, kinda surprised to see the universal acclaim for it honestly. really good though. Breaking Glass, Sound and Vision and New Career in a New Town are big standouts. unfortunately the production isn’t as good as Station To Station which holds it back a bit for me

the prod is fine for me, but i could see how others would think it's a step down. wife and crashing are both top tier bowie as well. cool to see someone else digging breaking glass so much tho. it's short but it's such a good tune

in general it’s a little muddy and the mixing is sometimes kinda annoying with certain elements randomly being super loud. like in Sound And Vision, that one vocal line he does with his deep voice. but I guess he’s narrating some of his darker thoughts on those lines so having them be loud conveys how “loud” the thoughts are in his mind
