It's one of the best prog or metal albums out there for sure. Gotta love the emotion they poured into this and Awake

I used to hate this band and talk shit about them. But now I fell in love with this and Scenes From A Memory. Karma?

DT might be an easy target, but if their music bites you, you just don't give a shit. And you shouldn't have to. Enjoy it.

Now now, there's plenty of horrific and embarrassing Dream Theater material to make fun of.

My friends and I actually listened to that when it was first released and were laughing so hard that we couldn't even drink to it. I wasn't breathing at certain points, holy fuck that album is cheesy and overblown.

The Astonishing is the only album I would actually say is genuinely bad by DT. As flawed as albums like the self-titled and Systematic Chaos (my next least favorites) are, I'd still consider them fun guilty pleasures. Both 3/5 albums for me.

Well The Astonishing is definitely the only one that gets me to audibly laugh but ...ehhhhh I don't consider those other two guilty pleasures lol, also how many ballads does the self-titled have? I dunno, that album is a fucking chore to listen to imo. So. Fucking. Boring.
And Systematic Chaos is so cringe worthy to me that I get almost no enjoyment listening to it. Plus it has a Metallica rip off song, a Muse rip off song and some other rip off that I can't remember because it's been forever since I've listened to that shit.
Yeah, fuck those three albums hard.
Also "I Walk Beside You" on Octavarium is hilarious.
Also I know everyone at least likes Black Clouds but holy shit that has some outright hysterical moments as well - and even though it's 'darker and arrgghh' it's still way shittier than people think it is imo

That being said, Images, Awake and Scenes are some of my favorite albums of all time with A Change of Seasons and Octavarium being some of my favorite songs
And Six Degrees also rules

That's interesting to read, really. I enjoy some songs off adtoe, but I always considered it as a guilty pleasure. James voice is irritating on most of the songs. I wonder what happened to his singing, I don't think it was the food poisoning alone

Yeah A Dramatic Turn of Events is the least offensive new DT album probably - it has some jams, but yeah LaBrie's vocals can be a bit much...all the time lol

Mike Portnoy's vocals on A Nightmare to Remember are hilarious, even though I love that song

I will always have a soft spot for ADToE. It was one of the first DT albums I seriously got into, and helped me see how interesting and unpredictable prog could be (I was even more of a musical novice then).
