It's a solid 3. Whilst there aren't too many horrendous songs, everything else is alright and nothing good. At least SC had 3 stand out tracks, even if the others were utter shite, so they get the same rating

I will never understand most people's opinion on ADTOE, it' simply their most inspired, coherent and beautiful album since 6deg, and also their least generic and contains the less pointless wankery than any of their other modern albums. It has wankery, but it has a point

What? Maybe since Octavarium, but ToT is much MUCH better. If it didn't have Honor Thy Father and if This Dying Soul were half its time, it would be a 5

ToT has a lot of awesome moments, but the thing that brings down its quality to me is the band's attempt at writing a dark and heavy album that ultimately creates an overall atmosphere that is very generic and makes the whole album boring to listen to. Also, even though it has In the Name of God, Endless Sacrifice and Stream, well, As I Am, This Dying Soul and Honor Thy Father aren't really very good.

As I Am has some cool moments like the verses and that drum solo

To me the only thing that brings down ADTOE's quality is the drums and Build Me Up, otherwise the album is perfect to me. Plus, Breaking All Illusions is a top 5 DT song for sure, it's like an improved version of Learning to Live

Learning to live is definitely the best song from I&W. If not, it's on par with Metropolis. I really can't fault it

Metropolis Pt. 1 is a perfect prog metal song, Learning to Live is an awesome hard prog song with a lot of awesome ideas, but it's really overrated imo

Yeah, agreed about the harmonics part. The only thing Metropolis has over Learning To Live is that bass solo

But yeah Learning to Live is still a top DT song, I just don't dig it as much as Metropolis and their other classic songs
