Am I the only one who thinks The Drapery Falls is the weakest song on the album?

I wouldn't say it's the weakest. I know some people rather love Dirge, but I really can't stand that song. I do think it's a bit overrated though, it really doesn't like..."progress" much. Unlike Bleak, which despite my relative underwhelment of this album, I've come to love.

Dirge definitely progresses. It starts off incredibly soft and beautiful, but later on in the song it gets beyond heavy and has arguably Mikael's most brutal vocals ever. This Message Edited On 09.28.08

5:05 in bleak (the 10 second little jazz breakdown before the temporary music halt) is the best part of the cd to me

That's my bad, I meant Drapery doesn't progress. Dirge certainly does, I just don't care for any part of it. I think either Bleak or the title track are the most dynamic (and therefore, imho, the best) songs on the album.

Basically The Leper Affinity is the best song of all time.

Nah, the ending (last 2 or 3 minutes) is boring and kind of useless.

Harvest is far and away the worst song on here and pretty much the worst Opeth song i have heard...It destroys whatever good this album coulda been and The Leper Affinity, The Funeral Portrait, and Blackwater Park are my three favorite opeth songs and i still can't willingly listen to this album...most of the slow parts on this album bring the snoozes minus maybe the hidden tracks and leper affinityThis Message Edited On 09.29.08

when I had first heard this album nearly a year ago, from beginning to end I was captivated, shocked, and amazed. At the end of the album, it took me several weeks to gather my thoughts and figure out what I had just heard. It changed me from the inside. First off, it opened up feelings I never even knew existed, and it opened a whole new world for me. The world of extreme metal. I threw out all my trivium, slipknot, dragonforce, and disturbed cds... this band has remained my favorite ever since. I finally get to see them live oct. 20... let me tell u its more than exciting.

I got this album about 6 months ago after reading the great review. It took me a a few plays before I could really get into the vocals, but I'm glad I did! This is by far the best album I have ever heard. It is just AMAZING - an absolute classic!!! 5/5.
