This album is actually pretty restrained compared to their 2000s albums. Sure there's a few times when they go all-out guitar/drumming insanity (my favorite parts to be honest) but it's well integrated with the rest of it, and there's plenty of regular heavy/lighter parts too.

I dislike most so called guitar virtuosos tbh but I do enjoy some of Petrucci's playing.

Does anyone else remember the tubular bells on the closing track?

Standout moment of the album for me. Quite an epic way to close.

BC&SL had so many good ideas, could've been one of their best albums if it were more focused.

I thought BC&SL was beyond awesome when it came out. I was 15 and both that and Crack the Skye came out around the same time. It was bananas.

I honestly don't think there's another album that's given me more difficulty with a rating than this one.

That keyboard wank at the end of Beyond this Life is just awful. Would probably be their best if they could just keep it together

DT didn't shit on their legacy like Queensryche did in the 2000s.

well maybe they did but it wasn't as extreme

A band's greatness isn't measured by its worst moments if you ask me.

Or are we gonna measure Megadeth for Super Shitider?

Or Priest for Shitidator?

Yeah Ryche have more bad albums, but Mindcrime and Rage > any DT

Mindcrime is better than any DT album but Queensryche lack the consistency these guys showcased in their earlier days.

FW are the most consistent of the big 3 anyway
