No Heroes is definitely the weakest Converge album, it's still dec though

pretty sure I like it more than WFCC at this point, but still unsure on PTES. that album's got lots of sentimental value for me + is fucking awesome.
|
| |
NH is way better than the debut at least
This is second best, for my money. Maybe not a 5 but fuck the universe

Yeah me and PTES go way back. I used to jam The Saddest Day every bus ride in 10th grade

My biggest issue with PTES is The Saddest Day rules so hard that the other tracks don't really stand a chance. Album is still awesome though.

didn't get into Converge til the last year of high school myself, but i remember jamming PTES and Jane Doe back-to-back constantly shortly after I got into the band during school, after school, and well all the time.
I'll never forget listening to JD my first time while playing Metroid Prime, ah the memories.

| |
Maybe it's a thing of mine but I never had any issue really getting into Jane Doe all that much, I
always thought it was awesome (not 5 worthy when I first heard it but eventually I realized my wrong
ways)
Then again it was in a time where I was discovering a lot of new music and it wasn't like anything I
had ever heard in the past, so it got a lot of points for that, it was pretty shocking
kinda misleading too for some reason I was expecting some sort of slow sad shit instead of an adreline
shot, from looking at the cover

god dammit... Dead, Forsaken, Farewell Note and Color Me Blood Red are all essential Converge tracks. definitely on par with the quality of The Saddest Day, I think. try listening to them on their own to get more into them, Fear. though I don't see how one couldn't just from hearing them on the album.

speaking of no heroes it's been growing on me a lot, lately. it's still their weakest but still much better than many people give it credit for. the first half leading up to grim heart / black rose is great, and the second half from orphaned to the end has some of my favourite songs by them. it's just something, when you take it in as a whole, that makes it a bit grating and bland. it's one of the few converge records where the songs work better stand alone or in groups of a few than as a whole album.

^this exactly lelle
If you listen to the album from front to back it turns into a snoozefest
|
| |
Grim Heart is an amazing song
And everyone always forgets about the debut but I still stand by saying that it's their worst

yeah, agreed. unfortunately i can't rate it any higher than a 3.0 because as an album it's pretty lackluster. definitely has some killer tracks though
debut is their worst, definitely. it's not that i forget it as much as i just don't acknowledge it
