Real list (sorry faraudo… ur chill bro🫶)
1. Sunbather
2. Lonely People With Power
3. New Bermuda
4. Roads to Judah
5. OCHL
6. Infinite Granite
with a huge gap between 5 and 6. So glad they came back with some hard hitting shit because I did NOT fuck with infinite granite, that album is cheeks. And tbh I could flip 4 and 5 depending on the day. I think Judah is probably overall a better record but Honeycomb clears everything on it. Always been one of my favorite Deafheaven tracks.

1. Infinite Granite - Not their best at all but I have huge soft spot for this.
2. Lonely People With Power - Can see this swapping with IG on a few more listens.
3. New Bermuda
4. Ordinary Corrupt Human Love
5. Sunbather
6. Roads to Judah
Feel like this list is a bit unpopular but still all of their albums are really good.

"Venin have you ever checked Der Weg Einer Freiheit
I think you'd prolly reallly dig Noktvrn since moments off the new Deafheaven vaguely give me Freiheit vibes"
Yes bro thankfully someone else noticed it too. I was thinking the same thing, especially within the Doberman track, straight Freiheit vibes. Also a little Alcest similarities on 'The Garden Route' track.

Infinite Granite is the reason why LPWP can exist. The record sounds like they've taken the best elements of IG and reimagined them with their blackgaze. Not to say that should elevate the ranking of IG, but it definitely had its own strengths.

100% agree on this. It is soooo refreshing to see a band's foray into different territories pay off this huge

it hasn't even been two days since release, and I have already beat the shit out of the album. fucking insane payoff indeed

Haven't really listened to this band too much in a long time but I'd think...
1. Sunbather
2. Lonely People With Power
3. New Bermuda
4. Roads to Judah
5. Infinite Granite (boring?)
6. OCHL (actively bad sometimes?)

Not been a big fan of deafheaven, a couple of strong tracks here and there. That been said, this is something else. Don't know if i'm warming up to them or if this surpasses their earlier albums. Either way, this sounds awesome and is a perfect continuation of the last album

.. and obviously referring to the new album

OCHL is inconsistent but has some excellent tracks if memory serves. IG was like outright bad to me almost lol
With their peaks being what they are I definitely found it mildly offensive at times

the you without end hate definitely tells me that screaming over pianos is a controversial combo especially since twenty-five got so much flak when tdwp's color decay dropped

OCHL is one of the worst albums ever made. Infinite Granite is good stuff.

i genuinely want to know what you hate about it hawks. it doesn't really stray from their general sound, hell IG is a far bigger departure from their blackgaze sound into purely shoegazy stuff so it doesn't seem like the "softening" of it is the issue. is it the contrast between the softer music and still keeping the screaming prominent? because to me I think that's the appeal for me

It is one of the most disjointed albums I've ever heard in my life. Just no flow to it whatsoever. Just feels like they threw it together and put it out. Idk I've tried many times and it got worse every time lol.

it's really weird because every time I go back to it I love it more. the contrast between the softer sounds ESPECIALLY the piano and the screams from george. it's a light/dark contrast that I can't get enough of.

I can sort of see what you mean Hawks. Yet I still think it is a decent album.

Yeah its the same feeling I get from "Twenty Five" by The Devil Wears Prada sorta. Kinda stung seeing that song get dumped on when it came out bc that was my song of the year that year. Even above Foundations of Decay which I loved.

OCHL is a victim of a fat combo of jank songwriting and corny bullshit
The new one is them combining all of their best qualities and almost entirely ironing out the worst, it's an easy second favorite for now behind sunbather (still gotta hear roads to judah though)
