@Christbait - You’re misunderstanding the mechanics of anticipation. This isn’t about clout in a mainstream sense, it’s about signal density and field readiness. Deftones has been largely silent for 6 years, during which their legacy deepened. They don’t need a rollout; they deserve one.
In fact, a slow burn isn’t for casual fans, it’s how you generate mythos. The less they say, the more weight it carries. This is their 10th album, 30 years in. You don’t compress that significance into a 30-day hype cycle just because people are impatient. You stretch it until it reverberates.

@Swag - I think that's an admirable approach and I can see that you're coming at it from the position of a Deftones fan who believe they deserve more renown than they may currently have. At the same time, I'd argue that members of the band view it as a business where, unfortunately, ROI doesn't come from building mythos or slow-burning anticipation. It comes from making music, releasing it as soon as production wraps, and hitting the road to promote. It's a grueling cycle that diminishes creativity for profit.

by my calculations time is approximately 7 times faster than it used to be, but i intrinsically have no way to prove this
