I am, they just don’t put out music often enough for me to keep an ear to the ground but I’m always down for new Deftones. Curious to see who’s playing bass on it

Oh I thought he was just touring with them, hopefully he got to put his own spin on the material and isn’t just treated like a session musician… honestly some fresh blood might be just what the band needed

"new album is called Private Music"

is that the album title or a single? the date on the concert teaser was July 10 and that seems way too soon for an album.

Damn is it really possible that we’ll get a whole ass album before they tour the US again in September?

They should go out with Ohms and release Eros as a send-off.

They've been a band for 31 years. At some point it's time to hang it up. Chino is 52 and it's obvious his voice is near the end. They don't have a consistent lineup and I feel like Steph may have checked out. I just don't want them to keep pumping out albums and ruin their legacy of being one of the most consistently great bands of the last 30 years. In a vacuum, Gore was a disappointment for me but it was still an objectively decent album overall. Definitely not "bad." Ohms was a bit of a return to form but with Chino losing alot of his ability to do any aggressive vocals I feel like any albums moving forward could potentially be just, boring. I'm still hoping we get to hear Eros at some point and I've always believed it'll be the last thing they put out.

I mean, 52 is old, but it isn't that old. Plus he's been sounding pretty good and looking fit at recent shows. And while Ohms doesn't have my favorite vocals of his, they are back with Nick Rask for this new one, and he got absolute gold out of Chino's voice for Diamond and Koi, so I'm optimistic.

His clean vocals are fine I guess but he can't scream anymore. Also, their setlist is so boring anymore. They've been playing basically the same one for years.

Steph doesn't have enough brain cells to remember tabs outside the live sets is my guess.

Too popular to quit at this point. If they hadn’t have blown up with the tiktok zoomers I’d agree but they’re making way too much money now to quit. My guess is they’ll keep going until their concerts stop selling as well or until they physically can’t anymore. They’re selling out arenas right now, I wouldn’t stop either.

And hey if that means we get some good albums in the meantime I’m fine with it. I mean seriously, Gore is the worst album we’ve gotten in the last fifteen years, if they can even manage that standard I’m fine with more music.

I'm just glad I got to see them numerous times between 06-12. I guess if people have never seen them, their performances now are just... Fine. Nothing more. But I wouldn't pay to see them again these days. It's kind of the reverse for me with SOAD. Been a fan of them for decades and never managed to see them live and while these days the band just does it for the money, I'd consider going to a show.

Stef basically just confirmed on the Dr. Greenthumb pod that the album is coming in August. Everlast (of all people) said he heard a couple songs and it sounds like Deftones "in a time machine". Single and album announcement next week most likely.

When was the last time you saw deftones? I see dettones live since early 2000s dude. And I've seen them in much worse shape than these days. I was highly impressed with the show, even if not as raw. They're in a sweet spot and not that old, imo...cause I'm not that old either lol
